How do I get all of my information into my account?
Your doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers will send your information to the health record bank. Going forward, any new information collected by them will automatically be sent to the health record bank. You can also provide additional information yourself at any time.
All relevant past medical records will be entered into the health record bank. It is not necessary to transfer every data point in your lifetime medical record into the bank as most of that information is outdated. Your bank will contain all the updated medical information on you that is required by your care provider to maintain your health.

If I am incapacitated and go to the hospital, how will emergency medical personnel gain access to my information?
Upon enrollment, you will be given an eHealthTrust identity card. In an emergency situation, any authorized healthcare provider (e.g., hospital emergency room, ambulance service) can use the information on the card to access your information in your health record bank. eHealthTrust will keep a record of everyone accessing your record and report that back to you.
How can I know when a loved one is seen in the emergency room?
If you subscribe the Emergency Room/Peace of Mind Alerts, you will be notified on your cell phone and/or by email.
How does my doctor gain access to my account?
eHealthTrust members have complete control over who accesses their health record bank. Upon sign-up, you grant access to your doctors and any other healthcare providers. At any time, you can add or remove people from the list of those who can access your record.
Will my name be sold or my information used for research purposes?
No. However, you can opt-in to allow access to your information for the production of aggregate, anonymous reports for medical research. You must give us permission before we can release your information for use in research. In all cases, your personal information will be removed from the data and combined with others so that researchers cannot identify you. If the use of the data generates any revenue to eHealthTrust, that revenue will be shared with you. You will earn "interest" on the information in your medical record bank.
How does this reduce medical errors?
By making comprehensive information available to your providers, you may avoid negative results from preventable drug interactions, allergies and previous conditions.
How does my doctor put information into my account?
There are two ways your doctors contribute to your health record bank: If your doctor uses an electronic medical record, the information is automatically sent to your account, or if your doctor uses a paper-based system, your record must be faxed to us where it is converted into an electronic image and stored in your health record bank account.
How does this reduce medical costs?
Providing a comprehensive, up-to-date medical record to your doctor when he/she is treating you helps ensure that you receive only necessary tests and treatments. In addition, this reduces the likelihood of duplicate testing due to unavailability of previously reported test results. All these help reduce the cost of medical care while improving the quality delivered.
How much does it cost to have an account?
Your health record bank account is free for life after a nominal, one-time data-collection fee that establishes your account and fills it with your current medical record information.
What happens to my records if I choose to switch Electronic Medical Record companies?
Our records are portable. eHealthTrust will give them to you in electronic form at your request. Your records are always accessible no matter what medical record software your provider uses. Your information is stored in an international standards-based format allowing for easy access by most computer systems.
Will I receive an insurance-type card with my information?
Yes, the card will have information about your account but will not have any medical information about you.
What other services are available?
Our focus is to offer you services that help you remain healthy. Therefore, eHealthTrust offer reminders for prescription refills, appointments, procedures, and wellness activities. In addition, with eHealthTrust Emergency Room/Peace of Mind Alerts, loved-ones are notifed in case you have an unscheduled visit to the emergency room.
How is my information secured?
Following lessons learned from the United States Department of Defense and national security agencies, all of your information is encrypted and protected by an ID number, password and encrypted PIN. Your information is stored in electronic isolation from other subscribers so that a breach of security in one account does not impact any other subscriber. In addition, eHealthTrust provides the highest levels of physical and virtual security and undergo outside security audits on a regular basis.
What if I have paper records that I want to upload myself?
You can upload your own paper records into your health record bank by faxing them or sending them to us electronically in a standard Adobe PDF format.
What if I can't upload the paper records myself? Can you help me with it?
Currently, eHealthTrust does not offer this as part of the service.
Can I print out my records?
Yes. Your records are always available to you.
Are there specific computer and Internet requirements?
No. Your ID, password and PIN are all that is required. Any computer with Internet access and use of a browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) will work fine.

Can my pharmacy be linked to my account so that my prescriptions get automatically filled or refilled?
Yes. eHealthTrust is able to link to all pharmacies that allow electronic data interchange, which includes all the large pharmacy chain stores.
Can x-rays, MRIs, etc. be stored in my account?
Yes. The reports from any medical images you may have will be in your account. We expect to provide links to the actual images in the future.
Can my insurance information and coverage be stored in my account?
No. This account is purely for the storage of your medical information and is not intended for use for payment and insurance purposes.
Are health insurance companies involved with eHealthTrust?
No. eHealthTrust is solely focused on you - the patient.
Can my record be accessed when I am traveling?
Yes. As long as you have your ID, password, PIN and access to an internet-connected computer, you, or any provider you designate, can access your record.
How does it improve public health?
If you allow your information to be anonymously gathered together with other subscribers and be used for research purposes, scientists will be better able to better track diseases and identify best treatments.
Will my account keep track of vaccinations?

How is this different from Microsoft HealthVault or Google Health?
These products do not provide an easy way to generate a complete medical record. Much of the data entered into these systems is done by you. Your eHealthTrust health record bank connects directly with all providers. This removes the burden from you of keeping the information up-to-date and complete. In addition, eHealthTrust is not in the business of selling products. The sole focus of eHealthTrtust is on providing you with a private and secure health record bank that you control.
Will my employer have access to my medical information?
No, unless you specifically request that such access be allowed.
Is eHealthTrust a non-profit entity?
Although eHealthTrust is for-profit organization, eHealthTrust has partnered with a local, non-profit community organization that will substantially share in any profits while providing guidance on how eHealthTrust operates to best serve the community.
Are the drug companies involved?
No, drug companies are currently not involved in any phase of our operations.
Is the government involved?
No. eHealthTrust recognizes that a health record bank requires complete private sector support to be long-lasting.
How do I earn interest on my account?
By agreeing to share your data anonymously (your identifying information is removed before it is shared), you will receive a portion of any revenue generated through the sharing of that information for research purposes. In addition, you also may be able to earn interest by agreeing to join a clinical trial. Sharing of data is completely optional and your decision on how your data is used can be changed at any time.
Can I skip the clipboard hassle when visiting my doctors?
Yes. Your eHealthTrust account allows your doctor to have access to all the information that would normally be provided on registration forms you often get when visiting the doctor. As your account does not store insurance information, you may need to provide that information upon registration in your doctor's office.
How does this service help medical researchers?
Researchers benefit by tracking diseases and treatment regimens that work. Access to your anonymous information by public health and medical researchers requires your permission.
Can I opt out of advertisements?
Yes, for a very small annual fee (currently $6/year).
